W tym niełatwym czasie w których większość z naszych członków i przyjaciół jest zaangażowana w pomocy uciekającym przed wojną w Ukrainie, piszemy aby Was zainspirować i podnieść na duchu.

Już 6 i 7 kwietnia (środa, czwartek) odbędą się obchody 50 lecia rabinatu kobiet w muzeum im. Dr Bernarda Hellera przy koledżu rabinackim Hebrew Union College w Nowym Jorku. Obchody będzie można oglądać on-line (po uprzedniej rejestracji – kliknij tutaj). Tak organizatorzy piszą o tym doniosłym wydarzeniu:

„Projekt „Święte Iskry” („Holy Sparks”) rzuca światło na kreatywność, zaangażowanie i wizję 24 kobiet [rabinów], które były „pierwsze” w swoim czasie. Ich wyzwania i wkład, zmagania i sukcesy reprezentują dotychczasowe osiągnięcia wszystkich 839 kobiet-rabinów absolwentek HUC-JIR w Ameryce Północnej i Izraelu – oraz prawie 1500 kobiet-rabinek wszystkich ruchów, które odmieniły żydowską tradycję, liturgię, duchowość, pracę naukową, edukacja i opieką rabinacką.

Ich historie przywołują prace 24 czołowych współczesnych żydowskich artystek, które zanurzyły się w nagranych wywiadach rabinek, wyprodukowanych przez Archiwum Historii Kobiet Rabinów Braid (The Braid’s Story Archive of Women Rabbis) i zachowanych w Archiwum Kobiet Żydowskich (Jewish Women Archive). Spostrzeżenia artystów, empatia i szeroki wachlarz podejść estetycznych oddają istotę tożsamości i uświęconych ścieżek tych pionierów.”

Jedną z uhonorowanych w projekcie jest nasza rabin, Rabin Tanya Segal, rabin Beit Kraków i rabin Gminy Żydowskiej w Ostrawie (Czechy), pierwsza kobieta rabin w historii Polski i w historii Czech. Odrodzenie życia żydowskiego w Polsce uchwycone portretem Lindy Soberman osadzonym w przeszłości Krakowa.

At these challenging times in which most of our members and friends are involved in helping those fleeing the war in Ukraine, we are writing to inspire you and lift your spirits.

On April 6 and 7 (Wednesday, Thursday), the 50th anniversary of the women’s rabbinate will be celebrated at the Dr. Bernard Heller at the Hebrew Union College in New York. The celebration will be available online (after prior registration – click here). This is how the organizers write about this important event:

„The Holy Sparks art exhibition illuminates the creativity, commitment, and vision of 24 women who were “firsts” in their time. Their challenges and contributions, struggles and successes, represent the achievements of all the 839 women rabbinical graduates of HUC-JIR in North America and Israel to date – and the nearly 1,500 women rabbis of all movements who have transformed Jewish tradition, worship, spirituality, scholarship, education, and pastoral care.

Evoking their stories are the works of 24 leading contemporary Jewish women artists, who immersed themselves in their respective rabbi’s recorded interviews, produced by The Braid’s Story Archive of Women Rabbis and preserved at the Jewish Women’s Archive. The artists’ insights, empathy, and broad array of aesthetic approaches capture the essence of these trailblazers’ identities and consecrated paths.”

One of the honored in the project is our rabbi, Rabbi Tanya Segal, rabbi of Beit Kraków Jewish Reform Community and rabbi of the Jewish Community in Ostrava (Czech Republic), the first female rabbi in the history of Poland and the history of the Czech Republic.
